Shipping

Introduction

Wholesale Gorilla gives you a dedicated layer of control over wholesale shipping that sits alongside Shopify.

By defining clear rules inside the app - and understanding how they interact with Shopify - you can create a shipping experience that is both flexible and reliable for your wholesale customers.

With Wholesale Gorilla shipping, you have full control over how shipping is calculated and presented to your wholesale customers. Instead of relying on a single flat rate, you can define flexible rules that reflect how your business actually ships orders - whether that’s based on location, order value, or other conditions.

This allows you to create a more accurate and predictable checkout experience for your customers, while also aligning shipping charges with your real costs.

Enabling shipping settings

  • Shipping settings come disabled by default. To enable shipping settings, click enable in the top right of the shipping admin page.

Setup guide

Shipping rates

You can see the number of profiles and zones you have set up in your Shopify shipping settings. Wholesale Gorilla shipping feature allows merchants to assign each of their shipping rates to be accessible to retail customers, wholesale customers, or both. By default, all shipping rates are available for both wholesale and retail customers.

To manage their accessibility:

  • click Manage shipping rates on the Shipping rates card.
  • Select which shipping profile to manage. This will open a table with the shipping rates for that profile.
  • For each rate select if it will be available for your retail customers, wholesale customers, or both.
  • Save.

If a shipping rate is conditional (based on price, weight, or other order property) then certain orders might not have an assigned shipping rate. If this happens, the order’s shipping rates will be decided by the shipping fallback strategy setting.

Wholesale settings

Wholesale Gorilla allows merchants to set shipping settings for wholesale customers, those that have been assigned price rules.

Order minimum for free shipping

Local delivery

When enabled, local delivery is offered as an additional shipping option for wholesale customers.

Handling fee

Merchants can add a handling fee to wholesale orders. This can be either a flat rate or a percentage based handling fee. When applying a percentage rate, merchants can set a minimum and maximum amount, to ensure an effective handling rate.

Fallback shipping rate

Shipping rates in a given region may not apply to all customers. For customers where no shipping rates apply, shipping will be handled using the fallback strategy due to missing shipping rates.

Customer group shipping rates

Merchants on our premium subscription plan can set customer-specific rates. These rates will apply to customer profiles that have a designated tag.

To create customer-specific shipping settings:

  • Click Add new on the customer group shipping rates card
  • Add a tag that will associate the custom shipping settings with a customer group. When added, merchants can see how many customer profiles will be affected by these custom shipping settings.
    • To add more customers to the customer group, select Manage customers. Adding or removing customers from this group removes the associated tag from the customer profile. This might affect pricing and other wholesale settings.
  • You can now set customer group shipping rates and settings like on the main shipping page. These settings will override any settings on the main shipping page for these customers.
